Volunteer Opportunities
Mercer Cemetery at Trenton is home to over 200 years of history, from its towering old trees to the stories carved into every stone. Keeping these grounds beautiful takes consistent, hands on care. Right now, most of that work falls on just a few people. That is where you come in. Whether you have an hour to spare or want to make it a regular thing, every bit of help matters. Volunteering is flexible and happens on your own schedule. Just let us know what you are interested in, and we will coordinate access to the cemetery so you can get started.

TWIG & BRANCH PICKUP
LEAF REMOVAL
The grounds need regular mowing to stay neat. If you are comfortable operating a mower, this is a great way to make a visible difference in just a couple of hours.
Our 200 year old trees are beautiful, but they constantly drop branches of all sizes. Regular cleanup keeps pathways clear and the grounds safe for visitors.
Seasonal leaf buildup covers walkways, stones, and garden areas. Help us clear them out so the cemetery stays accessible and well maintained.
LITTER REMOVAL
STONE CLEANING
The cemetery sits in downtown Trenton near a busy train station. Trash finds its way over the fence daily. Picking up litter is one of the simplest and most impactful ways to help keep the grounds respectful and welcoming.
Over the years, headstones and monuments collect dirt, moss, and discoloration. Gentle cleaning brings them back to life and honors the people they remember. No repair work is involved, just careful surface cleaning.
